History of TEDxFortWashington
On April 24, 2020, Jonathan C. Harris was granted a license to organize the inaugural TEDxFortWashington. TEDxFortWashington (located in Fort Washington, MD) is a conference where live TED-like talks and performances are shared with the community. TEDx events are fully planned and coordinated independently, on a community-by-community basis. The theme for TEDxFortWashington is "Reshape The Landscape." Essentially, “Reshape The Landscape” represents acknowledging a set of values that we govern ourselves by as a society but also recognizing many of these values need to be adjusted to today’s challenges. When thinking about the design of a refrigerator, you can have the physical structure that remains constant regardless of what you put in it (representing the landscape). You can choose to fill your refrigerator with fruits and vegetables to produce a healthy body ready to take on life while being full of energy. You can also use that same refrigerator to fill your body with foods that drain you of your energy. Although the landscape of refrigeration does not alter, what you put inside of that fridge can vary which will impact your quality of life. By successfully reshaping our values and challenging the norms that we accept, we can create a society that supports the direction we need to head in.
